A FLINTSHIRE teenager aims to bring the community together through song.
After being inspired by rainbows placed in windows across the county, Sophie Sterry put a few of her favourites together to create a heart-warming video.
In her version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, Sophie, from Hawarden, wanted to put a smile on people’s faces.
The 16-year-old told the Leader: “Somewhere over the Rainbow is a song that I have sung multiple times and I think the lyrics are so meaningful.
“I thought as everyone is stuck in their homes it would be a nice idea to bring the community together, as in times like these we need to help each other out.”
The Hawarden High School student sings for Flintshire Choir, the Halle Youth Choir and WNO.
Two weeks ago, she sang at William Aston Hall, leading over 1,000 children as part of AmaSing.
Two years ago, she also sang ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ as a solo at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
She added: “As we went for a walk, we were seeing rainbows in windows after we had made the video and they are such a good way of cheering everyone up.
“It is such a way of keeping everyone together and looking out for others, so we can all keep safe.”
