A DOG trainer is celebrating once again a fantastic win at Crufts - the World’s biggest dog show.

Last year Karen Boyce, from Froncysyllte and owner of Beastly Thoughts Professional Dog Services, handled her friends Glen of Imaal Terrier to Best Bitch. This year, she handled her friends other dog at the same event to win the Best Dog award.

Karen said: “I cannot believe we managed to win again this year. It’s obviously wonderful to qualify. Then to win our class was awesome but to be chosen as the best dog on the day was fantastic.”

“We were beaten to Best of Breed by a wonderful girl Glen but are obviously a little disappointed we didn’t make it into the main arena and onto the telly.”

Karen Boyce, 56, originally from Shrewsbury, but now living in Froncysyllte, has been helping families and their pets for 20 years. Amongst running a huge range of puppy classes, workshops and fun events and older dog training sessions Karen likes to help show owners with their show dogs, and have the occasional day off herself to show.

“Crufts is the world’s biggest dog show with over 20,000 dogs competing across the four days. But it really is also a fun day out for everyone. There is just so much to see and do. All things dog exist at Crufts.”

The Beastly Thoughts Professional Dog Services puppy classes are currently available in Coedpoeth, Chirk, Weston Rhyn and Knockin.

Karen has been a Puppy School tutor for over a decade and is also Regional Manager for other Puppy School tutors across North Wales, Shropshire, Cheshire and Lancashire.

Puppy School is the UK’s leading puppy training organisation with over 160 tutors across the UK. It’s moto is “Practice makes perfect”.

The mum-of-two has a team of eight instructors and runs her weekly classes for puppies plus has clubs, walks, and workshops. All for puppies as part of the Advanced Puppy Path system.

“She added: "I have my own pup at the moment, Evie the German Shepherd Dog who I bred, so I know exactly how owners feel. It’s all a little daunting, especially as adolescence comes quick in puppies, but with fair, consistent, rewarding training we can all get to our dream dog."

Karen was also winner of the Animal Star Awards Behaviourist of the Year 2019. BTPDS has a range of services also for older dogs and special dogs with specific problems.
