WAVES of applause rang out across Wrexham and Flintshire as residents opened their windows and doors to clap for our carers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.

A social media campaign was launched last week urging people to show their appreciation for our NHS frontline heroes and thousands of people across the counties answered that call.

Houses opened their windows and doors to clap and mark the gratitude for NHS workers that are currently working to keep the nation safe as COVID-19 spreads across the country.

The Clap For Carers campaign, which started online, was staged because “during these unprecedented times they need to know we are grateful”, according to the organisers.

Landmarks across the UK - including The Wembley Arch, the Principality Stadium, the Royal Albert Hall and Lincoln Cathedral – were also lit up in blue during the nationwide salute.
