When did you open and why? The shop first opened around 1950 (obviously I didn't work here then) by the Brimble family, then around 30 years ago my mother bought it from the Brimbles.

I worked for and was trained by the Brimbles, attending Celyn College in Northop.

I did leave the shop for a time and had other jobs but always returned to help out for special occasions and holidays. Then sadly 20 years ago my mother passed away, so I took the shop over.

Tell us about your business/what do you do/sell? Myself and the other staff members all love our jobs and over the years have helped families with all their floral needs, including births, marriages and deaths.

We always feel honoured to play a part in their life events, good and bad, and that they trust us to help them, in a small way we become a part of their families and make some lovely friendships.

Over the years the shop has evolved to become what it is today, we are always looking at current trends and what is happening in our high street, with changing attitudes to shopping and what people want from an independent retail shop - including an online shop for ordering and delivering all around the Holywell and Flint areas, including same day delivery.

Also popular now is our click-and-collect service, especially now that our high street is open to traffic again. You can order, pay and choose when to collect. People can pull up outside our door and your order will be waiting for you.

We also sell a full range of greeting cards, helium balloons, plants, silk flowers and our very popular memorial grave ornaments. We also work closely with a lot of local businesses and we do a lot of workshops which always very popular.

What's your most memorable/proudest moment in business? Some of our memorable orders have been delivering engagement rings along with marriage proposals and flowers, making bespoke floral tributes that have meaning and are personal to the family and their loved one.

We have even delivered a soldier home with a bouquet of flowers, to his mum, who did not know he was due home.

All very emotional but worth it and we also get plenty of highs as well.
