COLLEAGUES at parcel carrier Yodel’s Wrexham customer delivery depot have donated over £650 worth of toys, gifts, food and household products to three local charities based in Wales including North Wales SuperKids, The Salvation Army and Wrexham Foodbank.

All three charities are close to the hearts of workers at Yodel’s Wrexham depot - Wrexham Foodbank has been supported previously, an employee at Yodel volunteers for the Salvation Army and the North Wales SuperKids needed donations as they receive no funding.

Yodel colleagues worked hard to raise money within the Wrexham depot for all three charities with breakfast mornings and staff donations of toys and food.

Rob McWilliams, customer delivery depot manager at Yodel, said: “We felt as a team it was something we needed to do. Through no fault of their own many people are struggling with illness, bereavement, job loss and poverty and as a result, many people turn to charities like these every day.”

Wrexham Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Samantha Stapley, director of operations at the Trussell Trust, said: “Every year our network of food banks sees a spike in need during this time of year. What we’re hearing from the frontline suggests this year food banks will see just as many, if not more, people referred for help.

“Foodbanks will be working hard to provide not only essential food, but also little extras that offer hope at a time when people need it most. This can only be done with the support of people and businesses in local communities, so we’re very grateful for support for food banks like this.”

North Wales Super Kids supports hundreds of disadvantaged children and young people across North Wales every year

Charity founder Margaret Williams MBE said: “These wonderful donations from Yodel really can help save lives and my team of volunteers specifically select toys and gifts to ensure that the children have smiles and not tears. We could not do this without the generosity of people like Yodel as we receive no funding. It has made a huge difference – thank you.”
