THE Mayor of Mold will be holding the latest annual black-tie dinner and dance event to raise money for charity next month, but with a surprise fun twist.

Councillor Tim Maunders and his consort Wendy Tobin have extended invites to the whole region to attend the Mayor’s charity dinner and dance at the Beaufort Park Hotel in New Brighton, Mold, on February 15.

He has chosen North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) as the main beneficiary of his mayoral appeal - which has been named 'Save a Life, Make a Difference’.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mayor Maunders said: “It’s going to be an incredible night raising money for a good charitable cause.

“It’ been a long haul so far this year, and I’ve only got four months left of my term, so I just want to let my hair down so to speak!

“The auction and raffle that we’re planning to hold will be different in a fun way to say the least, but that’s all I can give away for now.

“When the night is all over, I hope it’s one of those events that people leave from thinking that was a good crack and want to come again to next year.

“There were somewhere between 150 and 200 tickets available to begin with, but around 100 places have been sold already.”

Tickets to the formal event cost £35 each, and include a drinks reception, a three-course meal, and the right to take part in a silent charity auction and a raffle.

There is a dress code of formal clothing or evening attire, and entertainment will also be provided.

The drinks reception is scheduled to begin at 6.45pm with dinner being served shortly afterwards and a licensed bar remaining open until midnight.

A selection of foods will be available on the night with the menu catering for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

Guests will be able to choose between rustic leek and potato soup or homemade duck and chicken liver terrine for starters.

For the main course, guests can indulge in roasted chicken breast with roast shallots, oyster mushrooms and smoky bacon sippets in a white wine sauce served with fondant potatoes.

There will also be a salmon supreme wrapped in a Beurre blanc sauce perfumed with herbs and a woodland mushroom and spinach pastry parcel to choose from.

For dessert, guests will be able to treat themselves to either a homemade sticky toffee and date pudding or a homemade chunky chocolate brownie that will be infused with raspberries and served with double cream. Freshly brewed tea and coffee will also be served.

Tables of up to ten are available but be advised that tickets are limited and must be bought by no later than January 31. However, of the approximately 200 tickets available, around half of those have already been sold.
