IT'S beginning to look like Christmas, as one Flintshire town flicked the switch on its annual celebrations.
Hundreds of people in Flint wrapped up to stay warm as they welcomed in the festive season, with fireworks, carol singing and plenty of hot chocolate.
With the town's Church Street closed to traffic, the temporary pedestrianised zone saw market stalls a plenty, enticing both children and adults with an array of sights, sounds and smells.
The Church of St Mary and St David was illuminated in a warm blue glow and was the perfect backdrop as children from local schools sang an collection of carols and contemporary Christmas classics. With plenty of singing and shopping to keep the public entertained, the big lights switch on was given a rousing warm up with a ten minute fire work display that lit up the cold night sky and was the perfect aperitif to the main course that was to follow, just after 7pm.
As the countdown was conducted from the balcony of the Old Court House cafe, the lights flickered into life and Christmas 2020 was officially bathed in lights and cheers. With fairground rides replacing the usual stream of traffic down the busy high street, the people of Flint have got into the Christmas spirit with plenty of time to spare.
