AN EMPLOYEE of a Flintshire housing developer has won a coveted award.

Ewloe-based Anwyl Homes’ site manager, George Povey, has been named Construction Professional of the Year for Wales in the all-Wales Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Construction Quality Awards 2019.

He received a trophy and certificate at a glittering awards ceremony held in Cardiff and he will now be automatically entered into the Grand Final, which takes place in London.

George is thrilled to be shortlisted and is looking forward to the awards ceremony.

He has been a site manager for the developer for seven years.

Having worked on developments of all sizes across North Wales, he is currently based at Tyddyn Bach in Holyhead, a residential development offering a range of three and four bedroom homes.

Having been at Tyddyn Bach since the start of build 18 months ago, George has been instrumental in the development’s success to date.

Earlier in the year George scooped the regional award for Best Construction Professional in North Wales.

Commenting on his all-Wales win, George said: “Winning this award is just fantastic and I am thrilled that the work I do for Anwyl Homes has been recognised at these awards. Being named the Best Construction Professional for the whole of Wales is a huge achievement and a very proud moment for me.”

Iain Murray, construction director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, added: “We are incredibly pleased for George and very proud of all he has achieved. To have an Anwyl Homes site manager recognised and rewarded by the LABC, competing across the whole of Wales, is fantastic.

“George is an exceptional site manager with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He regularly goes above and beyond and exceeds all expectations on every development that he works. He is without doubt a huge asset to the company.”
