A DEESIDE duo has earned an award for their work in the local community.

Loose Ladies Lynne Chick and Lisa Mckessy-Schofield have expressed their appreciated after they were chosen to win the Connah's Quay Co-op Funeralcare's community award 2019.

Tracy Sankey-Jones, of Co-op Funeralcare, said: "We chose the Loose Ladies because of their dedication and support of several local causes in Deeside. As unpaid volunteers, Lynne and Lisa go above and beyond for our community and have pioneered some great initiatives that have helped lots of people.

"It was clear from the nominations that the community of Deeside love Lynne and Lisa as much as we do, so the team at Connah's Quay Funeralcare were overjoyed to present them with the award.

"Congratulations and very well deserved."

Members of the community nominated who they feel was worth of the award for their 'outstanding' contribution to the community.

Lisa told the Leader: "I’m humbled and honoured for myself and Lynne to have been given this award.

"I would just like to say how lucky we are to be in a position to be able to help people, and all that is because of the wonderful people who follow us on our radio show loose ladies on radio Deeside."

Lynne Chick added: "I couldn't believe we have won the Deeside community award 2019. Its Loose Ladies very first award so it's very exciting, we have been blown away by the amount of people who voted for us,.

"It's an absolute great honour to receive this award and we can't thank our listeners enough. We have listeners across the globe as not only do we air on Radio Deeside but also down under on Variety Digital Radio Australia.
