FIREFIGHTERS have so far had a busy bonfire night in Wrexham.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 6.14pm on Tuesday reporting a large unattended bonfire in Montrose Gardens, Wrexham.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames, with the damage confined to the bonfire materials only.
About half an hour later, crews were called to a blaze in a park at Solway Banks.
The incident, which involved park equipment and wheelie bins, was confirmed to have been started deliberately.
A call was then received at 6.50pm reporting a rubbish fire in the middle of a football pitch in Gwenfro, Queensway.
This was extinguished with a hose reel jet and was also confirmed to have been started deliberately.
A spokesman for the fire and rescue service told the Leader that the service had also been made aware in advance of 12 bonfires in Flintshire and six in Wrexham - a combination of private and organised fires.
