COMMUTERS were hit by delays and cancellations at Shotton Railway Station on Tuesday morning due to a false fire alarm on a nearby road.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a possible fire involving a washing machine on Rowley’s Drive – which is just metres away from the train station – at 9.49am.
Transport for Wales announced this had led to a number of cancellations and delays to services going through Shotton while the fire brigade attended.
However, after one appliance from Deeside attended the scene and carried out a search of the area, it was confirmed to have been a false alarm.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the stop call was received at 10.43am.
All services are believed to be back in full operation.
