MOTORCYCLISTS are to kick start this year's North Wales Poppy Appeal.

Now in its seventh year, the Royal British Legion Rider’s branch Poppy Appeal launch ride will mark the start of the annual appeal in North Wales.

Run over the weekend closest to the national launch, this year’s North Wales launch will take place on Sunday, October 27.

Over the course of the day the riders will be laying wreaths alongside local dignitaries and Royal British Legion Standard Bearers at Wrexham, Llangollen, Porthmadog and Caernarfon before finishing at the memorial on Llandudno promenade.

Phil Jones, organiser for The Royal British Legion Riders in North Wales, said: “We are a National branch of the British Legion with over 6000 members and it is for anyone who has a passion for motorcycling and a willingness and desire to support the aims and charitable efforts of The Royal British Legion.

"As branch members, our main aims are to raise funds and awareness for the Poppy Appeal and to offer support and help whenever we can to all our service personal, past and present, and their families.”

Andy Green, Royal British Legion community fundraiser for North Wales, said: “We are extremely grateful to all at The Royal British Legion Riders for supporting the 2019 Poppy Appeal by creating awareness of our work here in Wales and supporting members of the British Armed Forces past and present.”

The 2019 Poppy Appeal will see The Royal British Legion encouraging the nation to recognise the unseen service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, past and present.
