A WREXHAM primary school shattered its target when it raised almost £2,000 for a charity.
Children from St Anne's Catholic Primary School in Caia Park took part in a Race For Life event earlier this year in aid of Cancer Research.
Staff and two classes at a time ran around the school field for 20 minutes, attempting to complete as many laps as they could.
It has now been confirmed that the effort raised a massive £1954.22 for the charity.
Teaching assistant Edna O'Hagan, who organised the event, said: "It was wonderful. I originally said to Cancer Research that we might raise about £200, so to raise what we did was just amazing.
"The children loved it. They all got a medal at the end which was worth everything to them.
"The funds have been given in to the charity now. I'm so proud of our wonderful school for raising so much for Cancer Research."
Mrs O'Hagan added she was also delighted with the response from the parents and family of the children who took part.
