A ‘BRAVE’ Wrexham woman went the extra mile to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.

Lindsay Roberts, 37, of Penycae, decided to ‘brave the shave’ last month and raised over £600 for a cancer charity.

Mum Kath said despite living with many disabilities and illnesses, Lindsay is always thinking about other people.

She told the Leader: “It went brilliantly.

“To raise £630 from something that short notice, within a week, if we had more time we could have raised so much more.

“She was made up, she was ready for 3.30pm that day and the event wasn’t until 7pm, she was amazing. Fair play to her.”

Lindsay braved the shave at Penycae Football Club last month.

After losing several family members to cancer, Lindsay has seen the devastating effects and wants to continue to do her bit to help others.

Kath added: “Penycae Football Club were amazing. They set the food up for us, it was brilliant, so I’d like to thank them.

“We had some really good prizes donated, so many local people and businesses stepped up to help.

“Lindsay loved it, she wants to keep her hair like that, but I managed to persuade her to grow it all year and then next year she can have it cut to donate a wig to the Little Princess Trust.

“She’s always thinking of helping others. I’m just really proud, I couldn’t do it. Someone asked me to have my head shaved but I’m not that brave.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their support, it was just fantastic, I’m really, really happy.”
