A NEW magazine will shine a spotlight on positive emotional health and well-being while offering a platform for job seekers who have experienced challenges to their own mental health.

The first issue features a four-page exclusive Q&A with Welsh sporting legend and Glyndwr University Chancellor Colin Jackson, who shares his thoughts on fame, coping with setbacks, learning to dance on Strictly and the importance of inspiring others.

Cover star Colin gave his public seal of approval to Like Minded at a recent mental health conference held at the campus in Wrexham.

Like Minded magazine is put together by *Double Click, a graphic design studio based in Shotton, Flintshire, that is run as a social enterprise.

The studio offers a supportive environment to people looking for work who are dealing with mental health issues by training them in graphic and office skills.

Double Click and Like Minded manager Andy Lloyd-Jones, said: "Like Minded gives the trainees a product to be proud of.

"It is a success story for us all as a team."

The idea for the magazine came about when the Double Click team noticed a gap in the local market for a glossy magazine with useful articles for anyone dealing with or interested in mental health issues.

Producing the magazine is also proving helpful to the trainees and volunteers who work at the studio and will give them an opportunity to showcase some of their design and writing skills.

Mr Lloyd Jones said the magazine is committed to making a positive impact on the mental health of their community.

As well as a Q&A with Colin, the 48-page issue features articles on the benefits of yoga, support for new students, the power of photography and how people can make a difference by volunteering.

It also contains personal stories of the ways people have addressed their own mental health challenges and highlights the resources they have tapped into to help them.

As well as aiming to be a good read, there is also a directory of contact details for both local and national resources that offer mental health and well-being advice and support.

There is even a 'coffee break' section with a crossword, word search and sudoku.

Like Minded will be published quarterly, with the next issue due out in late January 2020. It can be picked up at the Deeside Enterprise Centre, Shotton.
