A GOOD samaritan has stepped in to replace a stolen bike belonging to a Deeside man with learning difficulties.

The Leader reported on Tuesday that a bike belonging to 37-year-old Adam Gibbons was stolen from his Shotton property some time overnight on Monday (October 7).

While the bike has not yet been recovered, a local man - wishing to remain anonymous - has supplied Adam with a nearly brand new bike free of charge.

Adam, who has ADHD and epilepsy, uses bikes to get to and from his workplace at Asda Queensferry, so it is vitally important for him to have access to one.

Dad Ian has been overwhelmed by the reaction of the Deeside community in the wake of the theft.

He said: "First of all can I just say how humbled my family are by the unbelievable response to the theft of Adam's bike.

"We have no good news regarding the (stolen) bike and I assume we made it so hot that it is now in the river.

"There have been numerous offers of both money and bikes, which we thank you for from the bottom of our hearts.

"A gentleman who wishes to remain anonymous has provided Adam with a nearly new bike."

As well as the new bike, a steel chain has also been supplied to provide much greater levels of security.

Ian added: "His brother is putting in place a much more robust security system and Adam will be back on a bike shortly."
