A WREXHAM woman has raised hundreds of pounds for cancer research by joining in with the nation to host a coffee morning in Caergwrle.

Pat Venner has been holding her Macmillan coffee mornings since 2003 - almost two decades after she recovered from cancer.

Mrs Venner hosted her event in Caergwrle’s Masonic Hall – where she has held the morning’s for many years after the first event in her home was so well attended it became ‘unmanageable’.

The change of venue came free of charge for the charitable event.

Pat said: “In the first year, we raised £300 and our total has increased year on year since then to the point where I raised £1030 this Friday, October 4, in the space of just two hours.”

Mrs Veener said that she would like to thank all her helpers and friends for their support, and to everyone who turned up to make it a wonderful occasion, with special mentions to Audrey Harrison, Marylyn Knowles, Louise Roberts, Morgan Tudor and Chris Tudor.
