A COBBLER is opening a new business in the middle of Wrexham town centre.
Damian Johnson, 45, has opened ‘Damian’s Traditional Cobblers’ at the former Leader offices on High Street.
He has opened his doors and plans an official opening today.
He had worked at a cobbler’s in Henblas Street for the past six years until he decided to take the plunge and branch out on his own.
Damian, a father-of-two, insists people still want their shoes repaired which is cheaper than buying new footwear.
He specialises in stitching and also leather work and has a contract to make seats for a local pub.
Alex Jones, chairman of Offa Community Council, which covers part of the High Street, and past president of Wrexham Town Business Forum, said: “I welcome any new business in the High Street especially when it is a traditional one. It is certainly on a prime site and I wish Mr Johnson all the best for the future.”
