FLINT Coastguard dealt with several incidents over the bank holiday weekend - including assisting with a road traffic collision and a missing child.

The team encountered a busy weekend whilst attending Rhyl Airshow, along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team, dealing with seven incidents in total.

On Saturday (August 24), at 12.39pm Flint Coastguard assisted North Wales Police in its search for a missing person, with person successfully located by Flint Coastguard officers.

Also on Saturday, while one of the coastguard rescue officers was on his way home at approximately 5.15pm, he came across a road traffic collision on the A548 in Oakenholt. The Coastguard Operations Centre in Holyhead was informed and an ambulance was requested.

Care was provided for the patient until the arrival of Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust Paramedics and North Wales Police Officers arrived on scene.

On Sunday (August 25) at 12.50pm, a teams was deployed to locate a vessel that had become lost in fog - the vessel was subsequently located by a wind farm support vessel and returned to Rhyl.

At 1.13pm, Flint Coastguard assisted RNLI Lifeguards North Wales clear persons from the beach due to the fog and at 2.59pm, the assisted with a high volume of people in the water near Rhyl Harbour, after police concerns with vessels entering and leaving the harbour.

While at 4.59pm, Flint Coastguard assisted North Wales Police in the search for a missing 10-year-old boy near the Nova Centre in Prestatyn.

Two Coastguard Search Teams were deployed, one east and the other west.

The child in question was successfully located by Flint Officers, the Police were informed and the child transported back to his parents.
