A MAYOR and Delyn MP David Hanson visited businesses after a Flintshire town was shortlisted for a top award.

Mold town has been shortlisted for the Great British High street awards and is now in the running to be crowned ‘Rising Start High street of the year 2019’.

Mr Hanson and the Mayor of Mold, councillor Tim Maunders, took the opportunity to meet some of the retailers in the town and find out what it means to them to be shortlisted.

“It is brilliant news to hear that Mold has been shortlisted for the Great British High Street Award," Mr Hanson said.

"The hard work of local businesses, the town council and community groups to make Mold the thriving town is it today cannot go without notice.

“It was great to get out and about in Mold today, we received a very warm welcome from the retailers. "Mold has a fantastic range of independent shops and it is an ideal place to shop, it is thoroughly deserving of this shortlisting for the Great British High Street Awards”

Jane Davies, from Jane Davies @No10 Mold, said: "Mold is such a vibrant town, it has so much to offer and I’m so pleased that people are joining together to support and vote for Mold.

"I’m very proud to be part of this and have a retail shop in Mold itself."

Councillor Maunders added: “We have a great community spirit here in Mold, not only it is a great place to shop but live and visit too.

"The judges' scores only make up part of the vote with the remaining coming from an on-line public vote, therefore we are encouraging, traders, businesses, visitors and residents to vote (daily) for Mold.

"Please show true community spirit for Mold and vote for our lovely town to ensure that it gets the recognition it thoroughly deserves."
