A MOTHER who lost her two sons within 24-hours of one another has spoken of her gratitude towards the community that has helped raise funds to cover the funeral fees.

Rose Davies, from Wrexham, lost her sons, Scott Bellis, on May 29 and Robert Jones (known as Bobby), on May 30 of this year and describes how family, friends and even strangers have allowed her to focus on her grandson, Leo, aged six, rather than constantly worry about financial pressures.

She said: “There’s too many to list that deserve recognition for what they’ve done for me and my boys.

“Firstly, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Gwersyllt Workingmen’s Club, who’ve been absolutely amazing with me throughout this ordeal.

“Karen Bishop, trustee of the Gwersyllt Workingmen’s Club, who organised the fundraising night and Lynn Young, who went out of her way to ask a range of businesses within Wrexham if they would like to donate any raffle prizes.

“The Navy Club in Connah’s Quay who’ve shown incredible support towards Scott’s dad, Tim.

“And of course to all of our family and friends, especially to Tim’s sister, Susan who contributed greatly towards purchasing tickets and helping with the raffle prizes.”

The fundraising night at the Gwersyllt Club took place on July 20, and combined with the money raised via the online fundraiser that Ms Bishop set up raised an impressive £2,520.50, which will go towards paying off the £6,000 funeral costs for Scott and Bobby.

Ms Davies added: “The loss of Scott and Bobby has left me in a total mess.

“It hasn’t gotten easier but I try and focus my attention on Leo, as he needs me to be there for him.

“When I cry, Leo tells me not to as I’ve got him.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for what they’ve done for me and my family.

“Even people that didn’t really know my Scott or Bobby, like Terry and Baggy from the club’s pool team who organised a competition.

“Them or anyone else who’ve either kindly donated or sent their condolences didn’t have to go out of their way to help or support me, but it shows that community spirit can still shine even through such terrible tragedies.”
