A MUM from Buckley is to have her hair cut for a good cause.

Joanne Evans is planning to donate about 12 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust in November, a charity which provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss, while raising money for the Children's Cancer Support Group (Chics).

Mrs Evans, 53, said she and her husband Alyn have been members of the charity since their youngest son Sam - now aged 26 - received treatment for leukaemia when he was a child.

Speaking of her motivation, she said: "The idea was in my head about two or three years ago - I have been growing it since then.

"Part of me will be glad to get rid of it, it's very heavy and takes forever to dry."

So far, Mrs Evans has had pledges of £145 on her JustGiving page, as well as £120 on her paper sponsor form.

She also recently arranged a charity cricket match and fun day at Buckley Cricket Club in aid of Chics.

It raised more than £800 for the charity.

Speaking of the event, she added: "I was very pleased so many people turned out. There were about 50 adults and the same number of children there - it was great."

The final date and location of Mrs Evans' hair cut are yet to be confirmed.
