STEP aside Simba and Elsa because a theatre school in Flintshire held a successful Disney-themed event for parents last week.

Youngsters from the Big Stars Theatre School performed a ‘Dance Disney’ show in front of an audience at the Hawkesbury Community Centre in Buckley.

The children spent three days preparing for the event by singing, playing theatre games, and learning dance routines to all of the Disney classics before performing what they’d learnt.

Speaking to the Leader about the show, Jessie Bouch, owner of the Big Stars Theatre School, said: “The children were able to perform their routines to parents and they were fabulous. We’ve had some amazing feedback from the people who came to watch.

“Having recently employed a dance instructor, I thought Dance Disney would be a good way for her to have her own summer school and to take leadership.

“I have always run Summer Theatre Schools and thought dance may attract a new crowd. Let’s be honest, who can say no to Disney!”

Miss Bouch, 22, was previously a student at the theatre school before then going on to work for the company which has now been running for more than a decade.

But three years ago, Miss Bouch – from Hawarden – took over the group before then rebranding it to become the Big Stars Theatre School.

Now, the Big Stars Theatre School is teaching around 120 students from Buckley and Connah’s Quay each week, with a dance instructor holding theatre jazz classes for children and fitness dance sessions for adults.

Students will have another chance to perform soon, with a Theatre Summer School coming up which will last from Monday, August 12th until Friday, August 19th.

Miss Bouch added: “This is something which I have done before that saw a lot of children attend.

“The week will be spent working towards a fairytale performance at the end of the week, and will involve singing, dancing and acting. The script that we are using has been written by a talented ex-pupil of mine.”
