A FUN day at a Brymbo pub was a huge success, its organiser has said.

The event, held at Y Tai on Railway Road, took place on Saturday.

Brymbo resident Dave Johnson, 44, organised the day in aid of the charities Teenage Cancer Trust and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

As well as paintballing by Marchbrook in Marchwiel, the event featured bouncy castles from Bounce Hire in Wrexham, food by Eat With Kev at Brymbo Enterprise Centre and and a raffle with donations from members of the public.

There were also performances by five live bands and artists - Josh Evans of the group Alien Feelings, SBD (Sierra Bravo Delta), Eight Foot Square, Off Axis Fusion Band and Blind Pilots.

Mr Johnson said: "The turnout was really good. We must have had about 250 people there throughout the day. "We did one last year for the Prostate Cancer charity which was a great success - this one been equally successful, if not even better.

"I'd like to thank all five groups who played. So far we have raised £1,200 just from that day. "I'd also like to thank the whole community for making it what it was and to Mike and Joanne Hennessey, licensees at Y Tai for their support."

Joanne Hennessey said she was delighted at the success of the event, describing it as "a fantastic day".

Mr Johnson added he wished to thank R.L.Williams for providing the trailer/stage and Hilltots Nursery which made the on-stage TCT poster and bunting.
