LLANGOLLEN Freemasons have donated £500 to Home-Start Wrexham.

Home-Start Wrexham is a local family support charity who have been operating in Wrexham for 28 years.

Supporting on average 65 families at any one time; families are supported via a combination of group, one-to-one and formal parenting programmes to help promote child well-being and high-quality childhood experiences.

One of their greatest needs is for transport costs for families, particularly those living in isolated rural areas with limited public transport or limited funds to manage taking their families out.

This is a huge barrier to children developing social skills and exacerbating poor mental health conditions in their parents which can impact negatively on children.

Members of Valle Crucis Lodge, Tim Garlinge and David Rogers were delighted to present a cheque for £500.

Mr Garlinge said, “We are proud to support this local family charity. It was heart-warming to hear all about the great work Home-Start carry out within our community.”

Pam Hoyle, Scheme Manager at Home-Start Wrexham, added: “Llangollen Freemasons’ generous donation will go towards transporting some of our most vulnerable children and their families to groups or outings which will give them experiences which they need in order to develop and thrive in childhood.”
