A HOMELESS woman has been banned from every Co-op store in England and Wales.
Sharon Evans, 47, of no fixed abode, went into the Co-op in Lord Street, Wrexham, on four separate occasions and stole.
A court heard how she had taken a bottle of wine on three occasions and drank them outside.
One one occasion she stole some pies.
The offences put her in breach of a conditional discharge and she had failed to turn up in court on an earlier occasion.
Yesterday she appeared from custody at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court at Mold and pleaded guilty to four charges of theft between June 1 and 4.
Evans received a 42 day prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
District Judge Gwyn Jones made a prohibited activity order which prevents her entering any Co-op store in England and Wales.
She was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £115 surcharge and £20.85 compensation to the Co-op.
Prosecutor James Neary said told how a staff member stopped her outside the store and took the pies off her.
The staff member was not going to call the police but the defendant argued and officers were called.
Defending solicitor Emma Simoes said her client lived “a chaotic life-style”.
She was of no fixed abode and was clearly no stranger to the court.
But there had been a gap in her offending.
“She is trying her very best, in the circumstances she finds herself in, to stay out of trouble. She has a number of issues with drink and drugs but she is trying to get a handle on it,” said Miss Simoes.
Her client was now going to Liverpool more often to try and get away from pro-offending peers.
