A FOOD production company whose van was left stranded in the Wrexham floods two weeks ago have said the vehicle is still being fixed due to the damage it sustained.
The incident, which was caught on camera by Leader reporter Scott Murphy, captured the imagination and humour of many of our readers.
Torrential rain in parts of Wrexham and Flintshire caused "huge problems" as flooding affected most parts the region. Many roads were closed as a result, and The River Alyn had burst its banks on Manor Lane in Rossett.
Cefn Road was one of the most badly effected roads around Wrexham, but one plucky food delivery driver fancied his chances of getting through the pool but was left regretting the decision.
When our reporter stumbled upon the incident, he found that the van had been completely stranded, the driver having seemingly abandoned ship.
Now nearly two weeks removed, food production company Greencore, who own the vehicle, have told The Leader that the van was salvaged from the flooding, but remains inoperable at this time.
A spokesperson for Greencore said: “The van was safely recovered and is currently being repaired. We hope to have it back on the road soon.”
