WORKS are ongoing to repair a Drury road after a water leak "lifted" part of the pavement.

Residents of Beech Road were surprised on Wednesday morning when the found water gushing from a gap between the pavement and a kerbstone.

A Welsh Water spokesman confirmed the received reports of a leak in the road and immediately sent a team to investigate and carry out repairs.

Resident Sid Harrison said: "It was gushing and cascading into the road like a little waterfall for quite a few hours.

"It actually lifted part of the area where the water meter is."

Ken Rosedale, who lives near where the leak happened, said: "I got up at about 2am and had no water - then later some told me we had a burst.

"It was reported to Welsh Water and they were on the ball with it."

A spokesman for Welsh Water added: "There was some damage to the road which has meant it has taken longer to repair it.

"We apologise to anyone inconvenienced by this delay, and we expect to have fully reinstated the road by tomorrow (21 June).”
