A BOMB squad have dealt with an incident in which a suspicious item was found in a back garden.
An area in Cefn Mawr was cordoned off by police as a bomb disposal team after they were called in to deal with the situation.
A suspicious item, believed to be an explosive shell, was discovered in a back garden in Heol Cefnydd and the area had been temporarily blocked while the situation was being handled.
Police have now said it is okay for people in the area to return to their houses:
"The bomb has been declared safe and residents are allowed back to their homes."
Earlier in the day, North Wales Police had confirmed people working on behalf of Wrexham Council digging up a back garden in the Heol Cefnydd area of Cefn uncovered what looked like a 10inch explosive shell.
A spokesperson from Wrexham Council has said:
“Workers discovered what was suspected to be an unexploded ordnance during work in Cefn Mawr, and subsequently reported the item to North Wales Police.”
