A DATE has been set for Wrexham town centre's annual play day.

Organisers are gearing up for this year’s play day which takes place on Wednesday, August 7 in the town centre between 12pm and 4pm.

Regular visitors to the play day will know that it is the day when children take over the town centre and parents and carers watch on while everyone gets very wet and very messy.

There will be all the usual activities including den building, a big maze, the popular water slide, the giant sand pit and plenty for even the very youngest of children.

Tŷ Pawb will also be playing its part with a new exhibition dedicated to play which will feature a children’s playground.

Playing is what being a child is all about and play day is the day we all get to take a side step and give them plenty of room to do just that.

Around 4,000 people visited last year’s event and organisers are hoping to see even more this year. All you need to bring with you is a playful mood and of course some clothes you do not mind getting wet and messy.

There is also the opportunity bring a picnic and stay for the day or make the most of what is available in the town centre.

Wrexham Council, which is organising the event, is looking forward to welcoming children of all ages once again to take over the town centre.
