ONE of Wrexham’s fastest growing companies has pledged its support to its local hospice thanks to a vote by 400 plus staff.

Tomlinsons Dairies based in Minera, one of the UK’s largest dairy companies, will be raising funds for Nightingale House over the next 12 months and has started by supporting a brand new summer fundraising campaign for the hospice. `Sunshine Meadow’ will see 1,000 hand-crafted iron sunflowers displayed on the Stable Bank at Chirk Castle between June 15 and July 14 as part of a bespoke installation which will then be sold to raise funds for the hospice.

The company’s staff will also be invited to take part in a host of hospice fundraising events including Nightingale House’s final ever Midnight Walk in June, its Railway Walk in July and Dragon Boat Race in October, as well as organising activities among their own teams.

As part of its commitment, Tomlinsons is also supplying all the milk the hospice needs free of charge.

Tomlinsons is one of the UK’s largest dairy companies, supplying Welsh milk and dairy products to multiple sectors, including domestic households, local independents on the high street, as well as manufacturing businesses and many of the biggest high street retailers including M&S, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons and Aldi.

Debbie Barton, Nightingale House Corporate Partnerships Manager said: “We are thrilled that Tomlinsons have chosen to support us and are really looking forward to working with everyone at the dairies over the coming year. It was a pleasure to visit the company and we were also delighted to welcome Paul Jukes to Nightingale House to show him around our facilities and services.

“The hospice is here caring for local people with life-limiting illness and their families, as well as children experiencing bereavement thanks to the incredible generosity of the community we serve. This year alone it will cost £3,140,383 to run Nightingale House of which we receive just 19 per cent in statutory funding so a relationship like this with a large Wrexham company is so important to us and we are very grateful for the support.”

Paul Jukes, Chief Operating Officer at Tomlinsons Dairies added: “Nightingale House is a charity right at the heart of our community doing important work. Many of our employees have had contact with the hospice in one way or another and we are all keen to get going raising funds to help.”
