A BEER brewed in Wrexham has won a top award.
Magic Dragon Brewing, formally Plassey Ales, based at the Plassey Leisure Park, Eyton, Wrexham has won two awards at the Wales and West Regional Independent Beer Awards 2019.
Their Eyton Bitter was awarded Bronze for Bottle/Can Premium Bitters (4.5 to 6.4 per cent abv) and the Eyton Gold won Gold in the Bottle/Can British Bitters (up to 4.4 per cent abv) section.
The awards are run by the Society of Independent Brewers prior to the opening of the popular SIBA Ludlow Beer Festival at Ludlow Castle and judge the best independent craft beers across a variety of style categories.
Richard and Liz Lever, from Whitchurch, have being running the brewery since November 2017 and were very happy to receive the awards.
Mr Lever said: “It’s really good that all our hard work has paid off and we’re over the moon to get these awards for our bottled beers.”
The Magic Dragon Brewing produces a range of cask ales for pubs and restaurants as well as their bottled beers which they sell on site and in local shops in the area.
There has been a micro-brewery at the Plassey since 1985.
