ALL MANNER of entertainment is to be offered at a Flintshire festival in aid of charity.

Gavin Fox, 35 from Buckley, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in November last year.

His friends and family have come together to organise the Foxys Stars Festival, which will take place at Rhydymwyn Football Club on Saturday (May 18).

The event will include a charity football match from 2pm to 4pm, then a festival involving all kinds of attractions and entertainment from 4pm through until 11pm.

Activities include live outdoor music, children's games, a bar and food, stalls, a circus fire show, a raffle and auction, massages, face painting and more.

Most of the proceeds raised at the event will go to the charity MND Association, but some will also be distributed to sporting clubs including Hawarden Rangers, Deeside Gymnastics and Connah's Quay Nomads - as well as other motor neurone disease related causes locally.

Mr Fox's sister Nicola, 37, said: "Before he was poorly, Gavin worked in London for Audi. He is a mechanic by trade.

"The motor neurone disease affects people differently.

"It has affected Gavin mainly in the form of his balance and coordination. His speech is gone and he is fully in a wheelchair now.

"He's always been a keen footballer so he wanted to support Hawarden Rangers because my son Jack plays for the under 10s and Gavin played for Connah's Quay Nomads when he was growing up.

"My daughter Jessica goes to Deeside Gymnastics so he wanted to support that as well."

Speaking of the forthcoming football match and festival, she added: "It's all come about because his friends have rallied round and organised it and it just keeps getting bigger and better."

Admission to the event is £10. For more information, search for the "Foxys Stars Festival (Charity Fundraiser for MND)" event page on Facebook.
