A CAMPAIGN to preserve church bells in a village has received a huge boost.

Maelor Foods has kindly donated £5,000 to St Dunawd’s Church, Bangor on Dee 'Save the Bells' campaign.

St Dunawd’s need to raise in the region of £52,000 in order to have the bells refurbished. They have been successful in receiving a grant from the North Wales Association of Church Bell Ringers and are aided further by Maelor foods.

Doug Wellington of Maelor Foods said: “Bangor on Dee is a very beautiful village, with a lot of community spirit. It made complete sense to help where we can and donate this money to refurbish the bells of this magnificent church, which is the heart of the village.”

Rector Canon Sue Huyton added: “Parishioners of Bangor on Dee are very grateful for a generous donation towards the work needed on the bells. It will be a big help towards the £52,000 we are aiming to raise so that the work can go ahead this year.”
