A Wrexham man has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation.

Police probing the death of 21-year-old Lauren Griffiths, whose body was found at a property in the Cathays area of Cardiff on Tuesday night have arrested a 22-year-old male from the Wrexham area on suspicion of murder.

According to South Wales Police the man was known to Lauren, and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death at this time.

Emergency services were called to Lauren’s flat in Glynrhondda Street at around 6.10pm on Tuesday, April 30.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who can offer information in relation to the investigation or who would have been in Glynrhondda Street in Cardiff between midday on Monday, April 29, and 6.10pm on Tuesday, April 30, and who may have seen or heard anything in connection with this matter.

The family of Lauren, who was from the Oswestry area, have described her as a “beautiful bubbly girl”.

They are being supported by specially trained liaison officers, and have issued this statement in tribute: “Lauren was a beautiful bubbly girl.

"She loved being part of a large family and was a real people person. Lauren’s fun and unique dress sense always made her stand out in a crowd and she was comfortable and confident in her own skin.

“Lauren was taken from us too soon and leaves a massive hole in all our hearts.”

DCI Mark O’Shea, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “South Wales Police appreciate the support given by the local community while our enquiries continue in the area.
