A STORE that has closed following an armed robbery will be sadly missed, a council chief has said.

The Games Exchange Ltd has said it is closing its store on Church Street for good after a 'dreadful' incident on April 3.

A spokesman for the store said: "Due to the recent incident we have made the decision to close our Flint store.

"With heavy heart we would like to thank all our customers for the last 19 years.

"Please contact our Rhyl store on 01745 336644 if you need any further assistance. Any valid credit notes can be redeemed at Rhyl.

"We would like to add that the member of staff is doing fine and thanks you all for your lovely messages and support at this time."

Cllr Ian Roberts, leader of Flintshire Council, said: "It will be sadly missed in the town, it provided plenty of gaming equipment.

"I have used it on many occasions and it will be sadly missed on the street.

"On a personal level, I think it's awful what has happened. I feel desperately sorry for the staff involved who faced what was a dreadful situation."

The man threatened a female member of staff before making off on foot with cash from the shop.

Two 21-year-old men were arrested on April 10 in connection with the incident but one was released on police bail and one released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Cllr Roberts added: "I just want to express how sorry I am and how sadly missed the shop will be.

"I appreciate the reasons why they have made the decision and why they have done what they have. I would like to say thank you very much for being there."
