A COUNCIL is to write to a communications company to remind them to clean up after completing installation work in their estate.

Since before Christmas contractors working on behalf of Virgin Media have been laying cables in Caia Park as the company continues to roll out ultrafast fibre optic broadband in Wrexham.

But members of Caia Park Community Council have raised concerns about workers tidying up after they have finished.

Whitegate ward Cllr Brian Cameron said: "The streets are white and the lack of cleaning up afterwards is appalling so I've written to them.

"It's diabolical. Housekeeping is so important yet they just aren't doing it so I've raised my concerns.

"If someone treads that stuff into their home, they will need their carpets cleaned and who will pay for that?"

He added: "What they've done so far doesn't give me any confidence about what state things are going to be left in - and I was praising them a few months ago."

Council chair Malcolm King suggested the community council write to the company about their concerns and this was backed by members.
