AN INMATE at Wrexham prison has had another 12 months added to his seven-year jail term after he admitted possessing a knife behind bars.
Portuguese Jackson Vincente, a convicted drug dealer, had a disagreement with another HM Berwyn prisoner and went into a cell, Mold Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor David Mainstone said Vincente, 26, had the home-made knife in his waistband. Warders were alerted to the disturbance.
Vincente told the judge he was now trying to better himself and apologised for what he had done.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told him: "Plainly the courts have to be seen to be passing deterrent sentences in respect of prisoners who have knives on them.
"It’s a serious matter."
