CHILDREN enjoyed a trip to a Tudor manor house near Liverpool as part of their history project.
Year Four pupils from St.Marys Church in Wales Primary School in Ruabon had a most enjoyable and educational visit to Speke Hall.
They have been learning all about the Tudors in class and this visit supported these lessons.
Teaching assistant Helen Probin said: "They had a tour of the house and grounds and were shown features such as servants spy holes, the hiding place for priests and the moat.
"They had a craft session making pomanders with oranges and cloves.
"Two children were dressed as wealthy Tudors so they could all see their outfits.
"They enjoyed learning a Tudor dance and they learnt that the moat would have been full of sewerage yet they fished in it."
She added: "They learned about Tudor eating habits on pewter and wooden plates and since returning to school they have studied Tudor medicine."
