AN MP is calling on her constituents to take part in a road safety inquiry.
Clwyd South MP Susan Elan Jones has also called for UK-wide action to improve road safety.
Responding to the Transport Select Committee’s request for submissions to its inquiry, she expressed concern that the UK’s road death rate is levelling off rather than declining.
Susan Elan Jones MP said: “It’s shocking that the latest figures show nearly five people a day are killed in road traffic accidents. Something clearly needs to change.
"We need a complete re-haul of how we use driving bans and in the sort of sentences that are given out where death and serious injury is caused by dangerous driving. We need more police monitoring rural roads and it’s also vital we use modern road safety technology to make our roads safer for everyone.”
