STAFF and pupils at a village primary school have celebrated a positive inspection report

Brynteg C P School was inspected by Estyn the first week back after the Christmas holidays in January, and was rated as good in all areas.

The report stated: "The School is a very nurturing and caring community with an inclusive and happy family ethos.

"Pupils behave well, care for each others’ feelings and demonstrate respectful attitudes to staff and visitors.

"The school provides a broad range of vibrant and stimulating learning experiences that improve pupils’ skills successfully. Teaching and assessment procedures support most pupils to achieve well from their individual starting points.

"Teachers and teaching assistants respond sensitively to the needs of all pupils, including those that are most vulnerable. Additionally, they provide valuable educational opportunities, effective guidance and purposeful support for parents.

"The headteacher places pupils’ wellbeing at the heart of the school’s vision and philosophy. She ensures good standards and positive wellbeing for pupils through successful collaboration with staff. She works purposefully with the whole school community to establish a stimulating and supportive learning environment for staff and pupils.

"The headteacher and governors have a clear vision and work together well to address the school’s development targets and to bring about identified improvements. The leadership team focus well on improving provision by promoting professional learning and the teaching and learning experiences have a significant impact on raising pupils’ outcomes."

Recommendations for the future include improving pupils' standards of Welsh and developing pupils' extended writing skills effectively, "particularly those of the more able".

Headteacher Rachael Connell, said: "We are very pleased with our Estyn report which has been recently published.

"There are many positive comments which reflect the high standard of teaching and learning as well as the wide range of other opportunities we provide at Brynteg School.

"The report reflects the excellent relationships staff, pupils, parents and governors have, and the positive impact this has on the overall education of every child in our school."
