A SQUASH sensation is set to represent Wales next month.

James Silvester, 12, of Elfed High School will play in the Five Nations in Northern Ireland and will represent his country in the under 13s competition.

He told the Leader he is excited to go, adding: "I'm really looking forward to it.

"I love playing and I can't wait to go. I get to go with my family."

This is the second time the 12-year-old will be representing his country doing a sport he loves.

Mum Linsey said: "James was chosen to represent Wales and it's all very exciting for both him and the family. I'm really proud.

"He was in it last year and was chosen again, it's such an achievement.

"It's an exciting time for the whole family as well, we are all getting to go across ourselves and watch him this time.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to the club and his coaches too. Without them, he wouldn't be where he is now."

James plays squash regularly at the Wrexham Brymbo squash club and was introduced to it after seeing his family enjoy the sport.

Linsey added: "Squash is a family thing. Me and my husband both play it and he carried it on from there. He's obviously at a higher standard than us though."

The competition will start on April 5 to April 7 in Northern Ireland and teachers at Elfed High School have passed on their congratulations.

A spokesman for the school said: "A huge congratulations to James and the best of luck for the competition. He should be proud of what he has achieved so far."
