A SLIMMING club member is looking to help others achieve their ‘dream figure’ by launching her own group in Holywell.

Elen Evans-Dera, from Flint, currently attends the Slimming World group run by Emily Hill every Friday at the Town Hall and has lost close to six stone in the last year.

The mum-of-three dropped five dress sizes and was crowned as the group’s ‘Biggest Loser’ on Friday night.

She said: “It was such a surprise to be picked for this award. Losing weight has made such a big difference to my life and the Slimming World approach meant I could still enjoy the food I love.

“Not being able to keep up with my children was just one factor that encouraged me to join up to Slimming World, but my weight also had an impact on my mental health, and I had had enough and decided to actually do something about it.

“I wholeheartedly recommend the plan as a way to get in shape and still enjoy the food you are eating. I am now a fully trained consultant and cannot wait to help people achieve their dream weight.”

As a busy parent, Elen said that she would often resort to convenience meals and takeaway teas as her first choice. Now, she has optimised her diet and built in gym sessions and going out for runs to achieve her target.

Elen added: “People are shocked to learn that it isn’t just salads every day when following Slimming World, I can still enjoy the occasional treat, it is just in moderation or a healthier way of preparing the meal.”

Her mum Tracey Evans, who is also Slimming World’s area manager for Wales and South Cheshire, said she proud of her daughters’ achievements not just as a mother but a fellow slimmer.

She said: “I have been working with Slimming World for almost eight years now and it is always inspiring when people do well and go beyond what they thought was possible. I know that Elen is a lot more confident in herself and to go on and help other people as a Slimming World consultant is very rewarding and I could not be prouder of her.”

Elen will be relaunching the group in Holywell Community Centre on March 27, with sessions at 5pm and 7pm.
