HARD work and loyalty have seen a property development chief receive a promotion.

Redrow's Gareth Wynne has been made the firm's area construction manager in the North West and North Wales.

It will mean more responsibility for the 48-year-old father of two from Mold - and he said he couldn’t be more delighted.

Mr Wynne explained: "The job will definitely get harder, there will be more that’s asked of me.

"But that’s exactly what I wanted.

“I have worked for Redrow for 26 years – I’m Redrow through and through – and now I can use all the knowledge and experience I have got to help the business move forward.

“I can share all I’ve learned over the years with those around me and that not only benefits the company but, more importantly, the person who matters most - the customer.”

Mr Wynne has been in the housebuilding industry for more than 30 years after following in his father’s footsteps and becoming an electrician, training straight from school at 16.

It was while working on a Redrow site at the age of 22 that he was approached to join the company and take on a more demanding role.

He started off as a trainee assistant site manager, before rising to site manager, project manager and, now, area construction manager for Redrow Homes (NW), based at Daresbury in Cheshire.

Hard work and a determination to do the job well have already seen him collect a clutch of awards, including an NHBC Pride in the Job Award, several LABC regional awards and, while he was working in Northop in North Wales, the Welsh National LABC Award, of which he is rightfully proud.

His new role sees him overseeing the construction operation at three developments: Kingsbourne in Nantwich, Goetre Uchaf in Bangor and new development, Millstone View in Penyffordd.

Mr Wynne added: "I’m in charge of all construction matters from the building programme to health and safety, and working with all the sub-contractors and suppliers, to customer care.

"There are three site managers looking after the individual developments, with their assistants, and I will visit all three sites a couple of times a week to make sure everything is running smoothly.

“I have seen many changes over the years with Redrow but one thing that has never changed is the desire to build quality homes that we can be proud of and people can enjoy living in."

Shaun Sumner, construction director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “Redrow has a reputation for valuing its people and encouraging people to progress their careers.

"Gareth’s promotion is hard-earned and well-deserved. He’s a real asset to the business and will inspire confidence and commitment in his team.”
