A SIGHT loss awareness event received a good turnout, a councillor said.

The event took place at Coleg Cambria 's Connah's Quay facilities on Monday and was organised by Vision Support and Coleg Cambria business students.

It aimed to explore what matters to people with sight loss, ideas for improvement and how communities can work together more effectively.

Cllr Pam Attridge, chair of Connah's Quay Town Council, opened the event and told the Leader she was very pleased with the turnout.

She explained: "There were a lot of people there and it was very informative.

"You see someone with a white stick walking down the road and you move out of the way - but you don't think about what they are having to go through day in, day out.

"There is a lot that can be done to help anyone with a disability but for people with sight loss, quite a few people mentioned timetables.

"Bus timetables are always in small print and train timetables are usually high up.

"There are a lot of lessons like that which can be learned to help people with sight loss.

"I would like to learn more about what is going on and what can be done to help."
