A MUM has spoken of her pride after her daughter performed final dance on a nation tv competition.

Maddison Spencer and Charlotte Davies have appeared on BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer as part of the Dane Bates Collective dance group and after their performance in the semi-final over the weekend were voted out.

Mum Emma Spencer told the Leader: "They were obviously very disappointed they didn't make the final but they did great and the feedback has been amazing from it.

"It's just lovely to have been a part of it and that's the nature of the competition, someone has to leave every week. I'm extremely proud and we've had loads of support and messages on social media."

The Greatest Dancer has seen dancers of all ages and experiences compete to perform on the channel’s Strictly Come Dancing and a land cash prize.

Maddison, 13, of Mold, and Charlotte, 15, of Hawarden, both attend Elsberdance school in Buckley, which is where they auditioned to become part of the Danes Bates Collective.

The dance group consists of girls of different ages across the UK but Emma said despite not living near each other, they all still found time to practice.

After their performance of 'Shake it Out' by Florence and the Machine, unfortunately the group did not make it to the finals, leaving just Harry and Eleiyah left for team Cheryl.

Emma added: "The atmosphere of the live shows was just great. Cheryl said she was pleased they were on her team. Maddy is the youngest and she's been on TV before and performed locally but she said performing on live TV is so much different.

"It's different for her because the others are at the age where they are looking for jobs and Maddy is still in school but who knows what the future will hold for her, it's what she wants to go into."

Emma told the Leader that she is unsure what the future will hold but after her appearance on the show, hopefully it will open more doors for her daughter in the future.

The Collective will be performing at a dance convention in London next month and will return to the live show on Saturday, February 23 for the final to show their support for the remaining acts which includes Harry Smallman from Deeside.

The Greatest Dancer will return for the final live show on Saturday.
