A TOWN mayor officially cut the ribbon for two new businesses.

Mold mayor Cllr Karen Hodgkinson visited Clwydian Sports Therapy and Injury Clinic on Thursday morning.

The business, based above Alton Murphy Optometrists in High Street, opened in January after a programme of refurbishments throughout December.

It offers services such as injury assessment and treatment, sports massage, pilates and more.

Owner Rebecca Partridge said: "I'm very excited to see the business grow and to get to know everyone."

Kirsty Barton, manager at Alton Murphy, added: "We're very pleased to have her in our premises and to be working together."

After cutting the ribbon, Cllr Hodgkinson visited the recently opened cake shop Lovelies Delights over the road.

There she met owner Beckie Taylor and cut another ribbon to officially open the shop.

Miss Taylor said that since it opened in January her shop, which now offers a small menu in addition to cakes and drinks, has received a great deal of interest from the public and welcomed its first bridal shower over the weekend.

Cllr Hodgkinson said: "This shows Mold is a good place to set up a business - it is a prosperous town and trade is good.

"I wish both businesses all the best."
