The chair of Chirk Town Council has spoke about the council’s frustration at not having a say in housing allocation for the area’s residents.
Councillor Jackie Allen spoke at a recent council meeting with many councillors sharing her concerns that people who have lived in Chirk for years are being moved away to neighbouring towns, being pulled away from their families.
Cllr Allen said Wrexham County Borough Council need to consider the location of people before moving them to housing in a different area.
“We’re being asked why people who have lived in Chirk for generations are seeing younger family members being allocated housing away from the town,” she said.
“They don’t consider where the family of these people live.
“We think as the town council should have a say in where the people in our town are allocated housing.”
Cllr Allen fears that family units are being damaged by this system.
“It must be costing WCBC a lot of money in social care when in a lot of cases it isn’t really necessary.
