A BLAZE which damaged part of a roof was accidental, fire chiefs have said.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 5.41am on Tuesday reporting a chimney blaze at a property on the main road in Ffynnongroyw.

Two appliances were sent to the scene - one each from Rhyl and Prestatyn.

A spokesman for the service told the Leader that nobody was injured during the incident, which was confirmed to have started accidentally.

Firefighters confirmed that the blaze had spread, but it was confined to one roof beam.

Less than one square metre of fire damage was caused, a spokesman added.

The fire crew used a hose reel jet, two thermal imaging cameras and small tools to tackle the flames.
