TY PAWB says the Hippodrome replica lamp has become so popular that they now have a backlog of orders from the Wrexham public, desperate to get their hands on one for their homes.

In late 2017, Wrexham Council installed the light which once took pride of place at the former Hippodrome cinema in the South Arcade of Tŷ Pawb – attracting lots of praise at its new home.

The new lampshade was produced as part of the Designer Maker Project – which brought Ty Pawb together with designer Tim Denton and participants in the EU-funded Cyfle Cymru peer mentoring and employability programme for people with experience of substance misuse and mental health conditions, run by rehabilitation and recovery charity CAIS.

Karen Whittingham - Senior Gallery Engagement Officer at Ty Pawb, says that the length of time it takes to craft just one of the lamps has resulted in cultural community resource not being able to keep up with the sheer demand of the popular artwork.

"Ever since we've started selling them, the people in Wrexham have been asking for them. We can only make one a week, which means that we've just not been able to make them as quickly as people want them, which really is amazing.

"It really shows the popularity and desire of the Wrexham public for this amazing piece of art and I can only encourage people to keep enquiring about it's availability."
